The Power of Being Seen:
A Place For Hannah’s Story
There are a million organizations out there, and so many of them have an incredible purpose.
As a tiny nonprofit, we constantly find ourselves trying to stand out in a sea of organizations doing good work—hoping someone will choose us, believe in us, and see the value in the work we are doing.
As a nonprofit founder, I can’t fully explain the struggle of trying to find people who believe in what you’re building. People who don’t just see the program or the numbers, but see the people behind the mission.
A Place For Hannah is a little different.
People love children. People love dogs. But people don’t always know how to love messy people.
And that’s who we are.
We are in the business of loving messy people.
We sit with people in their mess—not judging them for how they got there, not expecting them to have it all figured out, but loving them enough to sit beside them and hopefully help them begin to clean it up.
Recently, we stood in front of 100 Women at their very first West Valley meeting and poured our hearts and souls out. And they heard us.
They chose A Place For Hannah as the first recipient of their funding.
We shared that one of our biggest needs was storage space and a place to begin building a clothing closet for the women we serve. Today, we have that storage space, we are getting organized, and we are taking the first steps toward making that clothing closet a reality.
There is something incredibly powerful about a room full of women standing up and saying, “We believe in what you are doing.”
To the women who believed in us: thank you.
Thank you for seeing value in serving women who aren’t always easy to serve. Thank you for believing in second chances. Thank you for believing that people are more than the messiest chapters of their lives. And thank you for believing in the kind of work that requires us to sit in messy spaces.
THANK YOU 100 WOMEN OF THE WEST VALLEY!
